This is commonly seen among the Cherokee nation though fire is a sacred element in many tribes. Once the smaller outer stacks are lit, prayers are offered, and the piles are pushed to the center to burn the larger stack signifying the union. In the center is a stack of unlit firewood, and on the sides are two small fires to symbolize the lives of the individuals getting married.
